How to Reach
the MPI-Met with Public Transport: (top)
The MPI-Met is located just across the road from the "Schlump" underground
station right hand side of a high-rise University building, 18 storeys tall and
brown in colour, the so-called Geomatikum, in a 4 storey tall bluish/turquoise
building. You will notice the Geomatikum when you leave the station turning right.
In front of the Geomatikum turn right in front of the workshop and then turn
left to the new ZMAW building (ZMAW = Centre of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences).
From the airport, take the Airport Express bus no. 110 (tickets
on the bus) operated by HVV to "Ohlsdorf" underground
station where you enter the underground no. U1, blue line, direction "Ohlstedt/Wandsbek/Großhansdorf".
Change at "Kellinghusenstraße" into the U3, yellow
line, direction "Billstedt/Mümmelmannsberg", and
get off at the "Schlump" station. See underground map
below.
From the DB - main train station (Hauptbahnhof/Hbf), you take
the underground U2, red line, (tickets from machines in the entrance
hall), direction "Niendorf-Nord" or "Niendorf-Markt".Get
off at the "Schlump" underground station as described
above.
Access by Car:
From Northern Directions:
Leave the motorway A7, exit "Stellingen", and follow
the B4/B5, direction "Centrum". Then take the B5, following
the sign "Centrum". At the crossing "Schäferkampsallee" / "Beim
Schlump" (underground station "Schlump") turn
to the left into "Beim Schlump". The MPI is located
on the right (see above).
From Southern Directions:
Leave the motorway A7, exit "Bahrenfeld", and follow
the B431, direction "Centrum". At the metropolitan "Holstenstraße",
turn to the left into "Alsenstraße" (Ring 2).
After approx. 1 km, turn right into "Fruchtallee",
where you reach the crossing Schäferkampsallee" / "Beim
Schlump". Continue as described above.
From Eastern Directions:
Drive on the motorway A1/A24 to the end of A24 (junction "Horn")
and follow the "Sievekingsallee" as far as the crossing "Bürgerweide" / "Wallstraße" / "Mühlendamm".
Turn to the right into "Wallstraße" and drive
up to the lake "Außenalster". Turn to the left
and, with the "Außenalster" at your right, follow
the B5 up to the crossing "Schröderstift" / "Beim
Schlump" (underground station "Schlump"). Turn
to the right into "Beim Schlump". Continue as described
above.
